SSEN Transmission

At SSEN Transmission, we are responsible for the electricity transmission network in the north of Scotland, maintaining and investing in high voltage 132kV, 220kV, 275kV and 400kV infrastructure.

Our network consists of underground and subsea cables, overhead lines on wooden poles or steel towers, and electricity substations. It extends over a quarter of the UK’s land mass, crossing some of its most challenging terrain.

Right now, we are investing over £20bn to upgrade network infrastructure across the north of Scotland by 2030, as the region plays a leading role in delivering Scotland and the UK’s energy security and net zero targets.

We are delighted to have partnered with the Women’s Engineering Society – we’re making great progress but know there is more we can do when it comes to gender diversity. We’re committed to driving continuous improvement in this space and making a careers in energy path that is open and exciting for everyone, especially women.
