ODQA
Decarbonising High-Grade Industrial Heat
Founded in 2017 by Gediz Karaca and Professor Peter Ireland, Odqa is a VC-backed DeepTech spinout from the University of Oxford. With locations in Oxford and Madrid, we harness concentrated solar thermal (CST) energy to decarbonise industrial heat, which accounts for approximately 20% of global carbon emissions. Our patented air-based solar receiver combined with heat battery convert and store sunlight at up to 800°C.
Leveraging jet engine heat transfer expertise and motorsport precision engineering, we deliver the speed, efficiency, and affordability required for industrial decarbonisation.
Our flagship product, the Odqa Converger, integrates our proprietary air-based solar thermal system with industrial rotary dryers and kilns to provide clean, high-temperature air (up to 800°C), dramatically reducing emissions and energy costs in sectors such as mining, construction materials manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals. It concentrates and stores solar energy, heating air to be directed into your existing drying and kiln systems 24/7. This integration enables decarbonisations of heat-intensive processes without significant infrastructure changes.
