The content is designed to help guide career choices, encourage through a network of role models and educate on engineering as a profession for those just setting out in the world of work or those considering a career or sector change.

The “She’s an Engineer” profiles are a unique benefit and great opportunity for our members to showcase their own engineering experiences, to be highlighted as role models and be active promoters of engineering to women and girls.

Safety

Safety engineering is a field of engineering that deals with accident prevention, reducing the risks associated with human error, and deriving safety benefits from engineered systems and designs.

Transport

The transportation sector provides services to move people or goods, as well as transportation infrastructures. Transport includes air freight and logistics, airlines, marine, road and rail.

Software

Software engineers design and develop computer games, business applications, network control systems, and software operating systems. They are experts in the theory of computing software and the limitations of the hardware they design for.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing is make something on a large scale using machinery, today this includes automated factories as well as those full of highly skilled engineers. They might be manufacturing super cars, your favourite Christmas chocolates or life saving medicine.

Law

Legal engineering lies at the interface between law and technology. Legal engineers use their legal knowledge and combine that with technological know-how and project management experience to optimise existing products, services and processes but also to create new solutions to specific problems, using a combination of technology and tools.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure are the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities in this case the engineer work on buildings, roads, power supplies, ect. These buildings, utilities and transport routes are needed for everyday life and keep the world moving.

Healthcare

The healthcare sector provides medical services, manufacture medical equipment or drugs, provide medical insurance, or otherwise facilitate the provision of healthcare to patients.

Defence

The defence sector contains any company involved in the design and manufacture of defence equipment and the research and development associated with this.
For example Engineering service personnel, Civilians working in the armed forces, Suppliers and consultants to the military.

Education

Education is the process of enabling learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and qualifications. Educational can come in many forms include teaching, training, storytelling, discussion and directed research.

Energy

The energy sector involves the production and distribution of energy.
Examples include fossil fuel, electrical power, nuclear power, renewable energies and traditional energy industry

Entertainment

Entertainment is any activity that is interesting, fun and or educational. Engineers in this sector work to make sure your free time is spent safely and is there when you want it.
