As a media organisation we are keen to reflect the society we serve. We encourage female graduates who have been disadvantaged in terms of their career as a result of family or other domestic commitments to apply, particularly women returning to the workplace - a group recognised as being under-represented in software development*. The bursary pays for tuition fees and provides a subsistence allowance of £5,000. The bursary will also include a work placement that will offer the successful applicants a chance to see the increasingly important role technology plays at GMG.
Although the bursaries do not offer employment within Guardian Media Group, several awardees of other Scott Trust bursary schemes have been offered jobs with GMG titles and businesses following their training.
Details on how to apply will be available from February 2009 on the website: www.gmg.plc/ScottTrust/Bursaries
