Biography

Alice graduated with a BE(Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Master in Management Science from University College Dublin. She started her career in E.ON as an electrical test engineer before moving into R&D, focusing on low-carbon technologies. Subsequently she joined the asset management arm of E.ON and was responsible for implementing a new maintenance strategy across the UK generation fleet. She then spent 4 years in Slovakia where she was Engineering Manager on a 400MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant before returning to the UK as Head of Operations for Offshore Wind.

As an active member of the IET since 2004, Alice has made a significant contribution to promoting the Institution of Engineering and Technology and engineering as a career, especially to students facing choices about their future. In 2006 she was seconded to the IET to present the Faraday Lecture in schools around the UK, Ireland and Asia. She has written for E&T magazine and helped to establish the IET Member News video service. In 2007 Alice was named the winner of the IET Young Woman Engineer (YWE) of the Year Award in 2007 and has sat on the adjudication panel in more recent years.
